Person specificationAttainments Essential criteria - Fellowship of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.
- Fully registered medical practitioner with licence to practice
- Fellowship or membership of the Royal College of Anaesthetists/ Physicians/Emergency Medicine or equivalent.
Training Essential criteria - Eligible to be included on the GMC Specialist Register with a CCT or equivalent Certificate of Eligibility for CESR in ICM or within 6 months
Desirable criteria - MRCP/FRCEM/EDIC Extended complementary skills (e.g. Echo, USS accreditation)
Professional Interests and Experience Essential criteria - Experience of general critical care casemix.
- Experience of tertiary management of complex critical care patients.
Desirable criteria - Evidence of the use of audit in changing practice.
- Knowledge of up to date literature
Management and Administration Essential criteria - Ability to manage & lead a team.
- Some experience of departmental management
Desirable criteria - Evidence of postgraduate management training.
Teaching and Research Essential criteria - Interest in undergraduate & postgraduate teaching.
- Experience in teaching postgraduates clinical & procedural skills.
Desirable criteria - Postgraduate training in medical education
- Evidence of delivery of research.
Domicile Essential criteria - Able to travel to and from hospital site including out of hours
Personal Attributes Essential criteria - Multidisciplinary team experience.
- Enquiring, critical approach to problems.
- Commitment to continuing medical education
- Good communication skills, ability to work well as part of a team
Desirable criteria - Willingness to undertake additional responsibilities at local, regional levels
