Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• MRCPCH or equivalent
• Full GMC registration.
• On the GMC's Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview.

Desirable criteria

• Higher degree, eg MSc, MD, PhD in Paediatric

Experience

Essential criteria

• Able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training.
• Experience of working with children with developmental delay and disability
• Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
• Experience working in NHS
• Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
• Valid BLS Training

Desirable criteria

• Wider experience, research, and training, in providing subspecialty service (if applicable)
• Experience of adoption and fostering
• Experience of child protection medicals
• Experience of initial health assessments for LAC
• Experience of social communication pathway/autism
• Valid APLS and NLS

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Willing to work unsupervised and make decisions
• Good communication skills, including communicating difficult news
• Good organisational skills
• Knowledge and clinical application of SEND agenda
• Meets the requirements of the GMC's 'Good Medical Practice'

Desirable criteria

• Knowledge of risk management, annual job planning, appraisal review process, etc
