We are looking for experienced Constables, Sergeants, Inspectors & Chief Inspectors to join both our uniformed and detective teams across the Force.

Eligibility

Transferees

To be eligible to transfer, you must:

• Be a current serving police officer in a Home Office force
• Have no outstanding misconduct or integrity issues
• Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application.
• Have successfully completed your probationary period with your current Force and be substantive in post
• Not have tattoos on your hands, neck, forearms or head that could be offensive. Any visible tattoos will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Not be a current or previous member of a proscribed terrorist organisation or group.

Individuals looking to transfer as a substantive Sergeant or Inspector must have completed their NPPF Step 4 or OSPRE Parts 1 & 2 and be confirmed by home force as substantive in rank.

Re-joiners

To be eligible to re-join, you must:

• Have previously served as a police officer in a Home Office force
• Have had no outstanding misconduct or integrity issues
• Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application
• Have successfully completed your probationary period with your previous Force and have been substantive in post
• Not have tattoos on your hands, neck, forearms or head that could be offensive. Any visible tattoos will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Not be a current or previous member of a proscribed terrorist organisation or group.

Individuals looking to re-join as a substantive Sergeant or Inspector must have completed their NPPF Step 4 or OSPRE Parts 1 & 2 and have been confirmed by home force as substantive in rank.

Re-joining Officers will be appointed in a rank decided by the Chief Officer making the appointment, and will complete a probationary period determined by the Chief Officer.

Selection Process

We welcome transferee and re-joiner applications all year round. Please note that the recruitment process can take several months. Successful applicants will join the next available intake, subject to the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks.

• Last 2 PDRs/PRs, with line manager comments/sign off
• Training record
• Copy of the attached training list. Please click here for the Training Checklist
• Copy of your manual driving licence (both front and back)
• Photos of all visible tattoos on your hands, neck, forearms or head
• Sergeants and Inspectors must provide a copy of their NPPF Step 4 certificate or OSPRE Parts 1 & 2

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to a competency-based interview, based on the Competency & Values Framework for Policing (CVF).

Successful applicants will be guided through the transferee and re-joiner process and will be required to undergo the following checks:

• Vetting
• Medical Assessment
• Biometrics
• References
• Sickness Criteria
• Misconduct
• Tattoos
• Substance Misuse (re-joiners only)
• Fitness Test (re-joiners only) - transferees must have a valid fitness test from their current force

A training needs analysis will be completed prior to appointment to identify any training requirements.
