Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to deliver the best quality nursing care and support within an expert specialist service to patients diagnosed with these disprders at the St. Bartholomew's Hospital Endocrine Centre of Excellence

You will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team to provide expert advice and support to patients, carers and healthcare professionals on adrenal tumors and adrenal hormone deficiency, across both secondary and primary care. The post holder will also have insight to and work closely with other Endocrine services.

Main duties of the job

Under supervision of the Consultant, the post holder will coordinate treatment in alignment with local clinical pathways, The role will include developing, implementing and evaluating a seamless specialist service ensuring patients receive the highest standards of clinical care and have access to the full respurces of the multidisciplinary endocrine team.

In return, we will develop your leadership skills in education, advance clinical knowledge
and experience with formal and on-the-job training. The post holder will receive coaching, mentoring and opportunity to empower their own practice.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Registered Nurse.
• Degree Qualification in Nursing or Cancer or Endocrine related topic.
• Nurse Education Qualification

Desirable criteria

• Working towards Master's degree
• Level 2 psychology training
• Advanced communications course.

Experience

Essential criteria

• Has worked in the field of endocrinology or related speciality for some time
• Good working knowledge of treatment of endocrine conditions from diagnosis through all aspects of treatment.

Desirable criteria

• Previous CNS experience in this or related field.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Proven clinical skills in endocrinology
• Knowledge of endocrine pathways with particular reference to adrenal tumours, adrenal deficiency hormones and cushings syndrome
• Knowledge of the specific treatment regimens used for this patient group and effects and side effects

Skills

Essential criteria

• Good communication skills Ability to work alone and under pressure.
• Ability to manage complex situations both clinically and managing patients and families

Desirable criteria

• Presentation skills in order to present and represent patients at MDT.
