Job overview

St Bartholomew's Hospital is building a vibrant, ambitious nursing and allied professional (NAP) research culture. We are committed to ensuring every NAP role includes research.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Research Programme Facilitator/Fellow to support and coordinate our growing research-in-practice programme. This one-year fixed term role offers an excellent development opportunity for nurses, allied health professionals or healthcare scientists with an interest in research, evidence-based practice and clinical
academic careers.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Interim Director of Clinical Research, you will help deliver key programmes including the Evidence Champion Network, international masterclass series and monthly research newsletter. You will support new initiatives that strengthen research awareness, capability and engagement across the NAP workforce, and act as a visible advocate for evidence-based practice in clinical areas. You will build strong multidisciplinary relationships, contribute to education and training, and support identification of areas where
research or evidence could improve patient outcomes and experience.
Applicants with a PhD will have one day per week protected for contributing to departmental research-in-practice research activity and developing their own research.

• Registration with NMC, HCPC or equivalent
• Master's degree in a relevant professional or research-related area
• Experience engaging in research activity and delivering teaching or facilitation

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• First level registered nurse on the NMC register or AHP registered on the HCPC or HCS registered on the HCPC or PSA accredited Academy for Healthcare Science
• Masters degree in relevant professional (with research modules) or research-related area

Experience

Essential criteria

• Experience of engagement in research activity. This can include supporting research in practice activities.
• Demonstrable experience of organising and/or delivering education through teaching or facilitation learning

Desirable criteria

• Experience of undertaking own clinical research in a related area
• Experience of teaching or mentoring research topics or projects in related areas

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Knowledge of the difference between audit, quality improvement and research
• Knowledge of the NAP research programme and NAP research opportunities at SBH
• Awareness of methods to enhance diversity and inclusion in research activity

Desirable criteria

• Understanding of quantitative, qualitative and systematic review research methods
• Knowledge of information governance and research ethics processes
• Understanding of the clinical academic pathway and funding opportunities associated with it.

Skills

Essential criteria

• Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and targets
• Ability to build effective working relationships and motivate individuals and teams
• Clear and effective communication skills, written and verbal
• Demonstrably strong organisation skills
