Are you a registered nurse with a passion for clinical research and improving global health?

We are seeking a Clinical Research Nurse to join Professor Chris Chiu's internationally recognised Respiratory Virus Immunity Group, supporting pioneering studies that aim to improve our understanding of respiratory viral infections and accelerate the development of new vaccines and treatments.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will play akey role in delivering innovative experimental medicine studies fromparticipant recruitment through to study completion. You will:

Recruit, screen and enrol volunteers intoclinical research studies.

• Support participants throughout their studyjourney, providing clear information, guidance and reassurance.
• Undertake clinical research procedures includingphlebotomy, microbiological sampling and support for specialist procedures.

• Monitor participants during outpatient visitsand inpatient study periods, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Record and manage clinical and research data inaccordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), GDPR and research governancerequirements.
• Work closely with research nurses, clinicians,laboratory scientists and project managers to ensure smooth and efficient studydelivery.
• Contribute to the development of studyprocesses, participant pathways and recruitment strategies.
• Help deliver internationally recognised humanchallenge studies that inform the development of future vaccines andtreatments.

Job responsibilities

Direct Clinical & Participant Care:

Supportsmooth study delivery: recruit, screen and enrol participants into clinicalstudies within Professor Chius study portfolio.

Act as aprimary point of contact for study participants, providing clear guidance,support, and reassurance throughout their enrolment.

Takedetailed clinical histories and collect highquality samples followingenrolment including phlebotomy, microbiological sampling from variousparticipant sites, and assist with surgical/dermatological procedures.

Guideparticipants through study procedures, ensuring excellent communication andparticipant experience.

Monitorparticipants during study visits and inpatient stays, ensuring their wellbeingand quickly escalating concerns to study physicians.

Identify,record, and report adverse events promptly to maintain participant safety.

Preparefor and undertake clinical study visits within the Imperial College ResearchFacility (ICRF).

Participant Recruitment & Study Delivery:

Recruit,screen, and enrol volunteers, ensuring all inclusion/exclusion criteria aremet.

Explainstudy procedures clearly, ensuring participants feel informed, comfortable, andvalued.

Supportvolunteers through every stage of the study journeyfrom first contact tofollowup.

Clinical Data & Documentation:

Maintainaccurate, timely, and high-quality clinical documentation in medical/researchnotes.

Enterand manage clinical data and case report forms in line with GCP, GDPR, and dataprotection standards.

Helpmaintain secure storage and backup of participant information in line withCollege, Sponsor and NHS policies.

Operational & Team Support:

Workclosely with the Senior Research Nurse and Project Manager(s) to ensure smoothday-to-day running of the research delivery, including development andrefinement of study processes, SOPs and participant-focused pathways.

Contributeto recruitment progress of participants, including recruitment strategies andcommunication with participants.

Collaboratewith the multidisciplinary team within Professor Chius group and providesupport to colleagues when needed.

Workclosely with the laboratory team to ensure high-quality samples are collectedand analysed as part of the study protocols.

Training & Professional Development:

Keepup to date with clinical research standards, respiratory infection knowledge,and national regulations.

Attendtraining, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

MaintainNMC registration and uphold all aspects of the Code of Professional Conduct.

Additional Duties:

Carryout administrative tasks appropriate for a Band 6 role.

Adhereto College and NHS policies and always maintain patient confidentiality.

Asan Agenda for Change post, continue NHS career and pension progression whileholding an honorary clinical contract aligned to your experience.
