Job summary

We are seeking a team member for our Adult Mental Health Crisis and Inpatient Pathway.

Would you like to join us as a full time permanent band 7 to 8a development role as a clinical or counselling psychologist? We are ideally looking for someone with prior experience of working within a hospital environment supporting adults with trauma, severe MH difficulties and complex needs.

This is an opportunity to work alongside other psychologists and assistant psychologists with the support of a senior psychologist within a flexible hub model whilst retaining a main base,ward identity and presence, which would be Newbridges 18 bedded male inpatient treatment unit.

The role involves working in your main ward, assessment and treatment wards as well as crisis pathway.

You will provide specialist psychological assessment and formulation to help people as they enter and leave our service with opportunity to finish short term pieces of work in the community if necessary and liaison with wider services to provide a consistent, safe, trauma informed patient pathway. You will support teams through reflective practice, team formulations and providing supervision, consultation and specialist psychological advice

Working alongside the Principal Psychologist for the inpatient services, the postholder will contribute to teaching, service development, quality improvement and service evaluation, embedding evidence-based and psychologically informed approaches throughout the Inpatient Services.

Main duties of the job

Delivering systematic provision of specialist psychological assessments, joint assessments, formulation, care planning and individual/ group interventions within the inpatient setting, by providing strong, effective professional direction, ensuring the delivery of evidence based psychological interventions and practice.

Working autonomously and within a supportive team, you will provide clinical guidance and advice with evidence based and bespoke psychological care to the service users.

To contribute to the planning and organisation of inpatient services.

To provide clinical supervision to assistants and to offer advice and consultation on service users' psychological care and risk management to non-psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers.

To engage in research, audit, service evaluations, service developments and quality improvement initiatives.

To provide support for staff development including training, group supervision, team formulation sessions, reflective practice and to play an active role within the MDT meetings.

Staying connected to your colleagues professionally and ensuring you are supported through regular attendance at Inpatient Psychology Hub meetings, AMH Specialty meetings, Trustwide Psychology CPD days, CPD, SIGs, group supervision, your clinical, managerial and professional supervision.
