Person specification

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria
  • RGN, RSCN, RN(Child)
  • Community Practitioner Qualification, such as HV, CCN, SN
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of further study to demonstrate personal development
  • Level 3 Safeguarding training (Children)


Desirable criteria
  • Specialist qualification in children's community nursing, child development, neurodisability or equivalent experience
  • Leadership or quality improvement training


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience of clinical nursing with children with disabilities and special needs
  • Experience of delivering specialist nursing assessment, intervention and follow-up within a child development or community paediatric setting
  • Experience of contributing to safeguarding processes and multi-agency working
  • Experience of working in a community clinical team and/or multi-professional team
  • Experience of providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to colleagues
  • Experience of running nurse led clinics


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of data analysis
  • Experience of delivering specialist nursing assessment, intervention and follow-up within a child development or community paediatric setting


Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent assessment, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing, with ability to communicate across agencies using negotiation and persuasive skills
  • Ability to build effective multidisciplinary and multi-agency relationships
  • Ability to manage complex and sensitive situations using sound professional judgement
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management


Desirable criteria
  • Ability to analyse information and use data to support service improvement
  • Knowledge of current legislation, policy and national guidance relating to children's services (including SEND, safeguarding and integrated working
