Essex Conty Concil are pleased to be spporting Harlow District Concil to recrit a temporary Clerk of Work (Fire & Bilding Safety) on an initial 1-month basis. Please note that this post reqires the sccessfl individal to be based on site for a minimm of 3 days per week.

The role:

The Fire & Bilding Safety Clerk of Works shall act as Harlow Concil's independent qality assrance representative, ndertaking inspections of fire and bilding safety works to verify compliance with the approved design, stattory reqirements, manfactrers' instrctions and relevant standards. The role provides independent technical assrance throghot constrction, practical completion, handover and the defects liability period.
Inspection Responsibilities

ndertaking inspections at agreed hold points throghot the constrction process.

Inspect passive fire protection before enclosre, inclding fire stopping, linear gap seals and compartmentation.

Inspect service penetrations prior to closre.

Inspect cavity barriers and fire barriers within walls, roofs, façades and concealed voids.

Inspect fire doors, frames, glazing, seals, ironmongery and installation qality.

Inspect smoke control systems, AOVs, fire dampers and associated bilders' work.

Inspect strctral fire protection and means of escape provisions.

Witness opening-p inspections where reqired to verify concealed works.

Qality Assrance & Reporting

Prodce weekly written inspection reports.

Maintain a comprehensive inspection register.

Maintain dated photographic records of inspections and defects.

Isse defect schedles and non-conformance reports where necessary.

Monitor contractor responses and close-ot of defects.

Prodce monthly qality assrance reports smmarising inspection findings, trends and contractor performance.

Provide evidence to spport contractor performance reviews.

The experience yo will bring:

Strong bilding constrction knowledge.

Experience in occpied residential refrbishment.

nderstanding of fire safety and compartmentation.

Knowledge of Bilding Reglations and British Standards.

Ability to prodce strctred technical reports.
