Please note that we are unable to offer sponsorship for this roleCatering Assistant English Martyrs Primary School PrestonLancashire County Council provide catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals per day and we are looking for committed individuals to join the service.
You will work as part of a team at English Martyrs Catholic Primary School, Sizer St, Preston PR1 7DR providing high quality, healthy, balanced meals for school children.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare the dining area for service, including the moving and setting up of furniture and putting away.
- Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages.
- Clean all equipment and catering areas.
What we are looking for:
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
- Good customer care skills
- Previous catering and food preparation experience would be desirable
Working Hours:
- Monday - Friday
- Term time only
- 10 hours per week, although hours are variable depending upon school meal uptake.
- Plus 4 cleaning days per year. (Done outside term time)

Local Government ReorganisationThe Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
