About the role

Looking for flexible work that fits around your lifestyle? Would you like a varied and rewarding role with the opportunity to support different teams within the Council's Business Support Hub, gain valuable experience, and make a real difference to local communities?

We are expanding our pool of Casual Bank Staff and are looking for enthusiastic, adaptable and proactive individuals to join us. With both full-time and part-time opportunities available, this is a fantastic way to develop your skills while enjoying the flexibility to work around other commitments.

Business Support Roles

We're looking for individuals to provide business support across the Council's Business Support Hub.

No two assignments are the same. One week you could be supporting our Safeguarding Team, while the next you might be helping to coordinate services that support people returning home from hospital. These varied roles offer an excellent opportunity to gain experience across a range of teams and functions within the Business Support Hub, working alongside a variety of professional services.

Note Takers

We are seeking experienced and confident note takers to support meetings both virtually and in person.

You will be responsible for producing accurate and professional notes, sometimes within sensitive or complex meetings. This role is ideal for individuals with excellent listening skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with discretion and professionalism.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from people who have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working with a variety of people
  • Strong customer service skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Teams
  • Confidence working with digital systems and information
  • Experience working in busy, fast-paced or challenging environments
  • The ability to adapt quickly and work effectively with different teams
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work

What We Offer

Competitive pay, typically starting from £14.85 per hour, although rates may vary depending on the role assigned

  • Flexible working opportunities
  • Full training for the assignments you undertake
  • ICT equipment where required
  • The chance to gain experience across a variety of teams within the Business Support Hub
  • Opportunities to work alongside supportive and friendly colleagues
  • Valuable experience that could help you build a career within the Council

Location and Hours

These roles will require some attendance at Council offices across Dorset, including Blandford, Dorchester and Ferndown.

As casual bank positions, there are no guaranteed hours, with work offered according to service demand. This flexibility makes the roles ideal for people who want to fit work around:

  • Education or studies
  • Family commitments
  • Semi-retirement or retirement
  • Other employment
  • Building experience and starting a career with the Council

Whether you're looking for flexible work, returning to employment, seeking to supplement your income, or hoping to gain experience in a local government environment, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're organised, adaptable and enjoy working with a variety of people and teams, apply today and become part of our Casual Bank Staff team.
