Post No. SS948.37 - Care & Support Officer

Adult and Community Services, Residential Homes

Parklands Residential Home is situated in the Malpas area of Newport and provides accommodation, care and support for 26 people, 11 bedrooms are utilised for long term residential, and 15 bedrooms are utilised for short term re-enablement and/or assessment (Step up & Step down).

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. We have a 24 hour post available alongside additional hours if you choose to support additional covering of the home when needed.

You will spend your time supporting our long-term residents in all aspects of daily living, delivering meaningful activities that stimulate and encourage physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. You will also spend your time working with people to enable them to return home whenever possible, supporting them to regain confidence and the skills required to manage as independently as possible at home.

We are looking for people who are keen to make a difference, who strive to work within a culture which enables our residents to feel safe, secure and empowered. A culture that actively promotes human rights, putting people at the centre of their care and support, enabling them to exercise voice and control over the process and outcomes that will help them to achieve wellbeing.

You will have previous experience in a care setting; either hold or be willing to work towards the Social Care Wales required qualification for the role. You will be required to work a 2 weekly set rota pattern that includes every other weekend and be flexible as and when necessary to meet the needs of the service. The set rota pattern for this role is as follows; Week 1: Sun, Mon, Wed & Thurs 3-9.30pm, Week 2 Mon, Thur, Fri & Sat 3-9.30pm with a 30 minute unpaid break included.

You will receive excellent managerial support with training and development opportunities.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
