Business Development Manager
Full-Time, Permanent

The Role:
The Business Development Manager - CFE will play a key role in supporting the growth of our client base across the UK, Europe and Africa, focusing on the CFE sector within Oil & Gas, Offshore Wind and Renewables. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded individual looking to further develop their business development career, whether already operating in a sales-focused role or ready to take the next step into a broader business development position.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and customers, you will support lead generation activities, contribute to proposal development and tender submissions, and help drive successful contract awards. While CFE remains the primary focus, the role also provides exposure across the wider Energy Services portfolio, offering opportunities to collaborate on a broad range of commercial, sales and business growth initiatives.
What you'll be doing:
• Develop and grow a pipeline of opportunities across the CFE sector, supporting Oil & Gas (including decommissioning and well clearance) and Offshore Wind (including seabed preparation, cable burial and de-burial) projects across the UK, Europe and Africa.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, identifying new business opportunities and supporting the conversion of leads into contract awards.
• Maintain accurate records within the CRM system, ensuring sales activity, customer interactions, opportunities, and forecasts are up to date.
• Support the preparation and submission of high-quality tenders and proposals, working closely with technical, operational, and commercial teams to develop compelling customer solutions.
• Participate in tender review and bid/no-bid discussions, providing market insight and commercial input to support decision-making.
• Monitor market activity, customer requirements, and competitor trends to identify opportunities for growth and maintain a strong understanding of the energy sector landscape.
• Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to develop commercially viable solutions that support both customer requirements and business objectives.
• Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions, helping to ensure opportunities are delivered in line with company procedures, contractual requirements, and profitability expectations.
• Ensure all customer onboarding, purchase orders, and contractual documentation are in place prior to project mobilisation and handover to operational teams.
• Identify opportunities to promote and cross-sell the wider Energy Services portfolio, collaborating with colleagues across the division to deliver integrated solutions for customers.
• Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key clients, contractors, developers, and industry stakeholders through regular engagement, both virtually and face-to-face.
• Conduct post-award customer engagement activities to gather feedback, support customer satisfaction, identify future opportunities, and encourage long-term partnerships.
• Work alongside operational and technical teams to understand equipment availability and upcoming project requirements, helping to maximise utilisation and commercial opportunities.
• Support marketing and business development initiatives, including industry events, client presentations, case studies, and sales collateral.
• Act as a key point of contact for regional CFE opportunities and collaborate with global sales teams to support international business development activities.
• Provide regular pipeline updates, sales forecasts, market intelligence, and activity reports to support business planning and sales strategy.
What we're looking for:
• Industry Experience: Previous experience in a commercial, sales, tendering, project, or operational role within the offshore energy, marine, subsea, or related sectors. We welcome applications from individuals looking to take the next step into a dedicated business development position.
• Sector Knowledge: An understanding of Oil & Gas, Decommissioning or Offshore Wind, Renewables, markets. Experience working directly within these sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Technical Awareness: An appreciation of subsea operations, marine engineering, seabed intervention activities, or related technologies. Knowledge of Controlled Flow Excavation (CFE) applications would be beneficial, although training will be provided.
• Commercial Mindset: Able to identify opportunities, build relationships, and contribute to commercial discussions. An understanding of tendering processes, contract management, margins, or commercial risk would be advantageous.
• Communication & Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with customers, colleagues, and industry stakeholders.
• Self-Motivation & Organisation: Well organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate travel, and maintain a proactive approach to business development activities.
• Collaborative Approach: Comfortable working cross-functionally with technical, operational, commercial, and tendering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Systems & Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Previous experience using CRM systems, such as Salesforce, would be advantageous.
Why join us?
