Position Description: As a Bid Manager at CGI, you'll shape and lead complex, competitive bids that help our clients achieve meaningful outcomes and drive CGI's continued growth. Taking ownership from the earliest stages, you'll bring together diverse expertise across sales, solution, commercial and finance teams to develop compelling propositions and winning strategies. You'll have the freedom to challenge established thinking, introduce new ideas and influence senior stakeholders, clients and partners. Working within a collaborative community of experts, you'll be supported to strengthen our bidding capability, develop others and make a lasting contribution to some of CGI's most strategically important opportunities.
CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK 'Best Employer' by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you'll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We'll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.
You will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position but there is a strong preference for this role to be based in Scotland or Northern Ireland. Applications from candidates elsewhere in the UK will also be considered, subject to suitability for the role and flexibility to travel.
Your future duties and responsibilities: In this role, you will take ownership of complex, competitive bids, typically becoming involved before or at the earliest stages of an opportunity. Working closely with sales leads, solution architects and specialists across CGI, you will shape the bid strategy, proposition and solution while developing a clear win strategy informed by market and competitor insight.
You will lead matrixed and virtual teams spanning proposal development, commercial, finance and solution disciplines, creating an environment where people can contribute their expertise and develop new ideas. You'll engage confidently with senior stakeholders, clients, partners and suppliers, while coaching colleagues and sharing best practice across CGI's wider bid community.
• Lead & Deliver - Own complex competitive bids from early qualification through submission, governance and deal closure.
• Shape & Strategise - Develop bid, win and competitive strategies that create compelling and differentiated client propositions.
• Mobilise & Collaborate - Lead matrixed, multidisciplinary and international teams across sales, solution, proposal, commercial and finance.
• Engage & Influence - Build effective relationships with senior internal stakeholders, client teams, partners and suppliers throughout the procurement process.
• Commercialise & Evaluate - Contribute to financial models and commercial contract reviews, applying strong commercial and financial judgement.
• Govern & Assure - Apply CGI's bid and governance processes, ensuring opportunities meet the required internal approval standards.
• Coach & Develop - Mentor bid team members and colleagues across the wider bid community, supporting capability and professional development.
• Improve & Innovate - Research industry bidding and procurement best practice, identify emerging trends and introduce ideas that strengthen CGI's approach.
• Support & Close - Work alongside sales leadership to maintain momentum through the procurement process and support successful deal closure.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: You will bring significant experience of managing competitive bids and leading multidisciplinary virtual teams, combined with the confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders. You'll need strong commercial and financial awareness, an understanding of established sales disciplines and the ability to maintain quality and attention to detail while working to demanding deadlines.
• You should have bid management experience, including responsibility for complex competitive bids.
• Proven ability to lead matrixed and virtual teams across multiple business functions.
• Experience engaging and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience of government procurement processes and environments.
• Strong understanding of sales and pursuit disciplines, such as P2W/S2W or equivalent methodologies.
• Proven ability to work within internal bid governance and approval frameworks.
• Strong commercial acumen, including contributing to commercial contract reviews.
• Strong financial acumen and the ability to contribute effectively to different financial models.
• Excellent relationship-building skills across clients, partners and suppliers.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to deliver against challenging deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail combined with the ability to maintain a strategic view of an opportunity.
