About the role

Are you friendly, confident, and outgoing with plenty of enthusiasm and a can-do attitude? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for a Bar Supervisor to join the Property Division at an internationally renowned top 10 university in the world.

As Eastside Bar Supervisor, you will support the Venue and Hospitality Manager in delivering the smooth daily operation of the bar, exceptional customer experiences, and consistently high product and service standards. This is a varied, customer-focused role requiring excellent communication, teamwork, and initiative, with occasional summer support for accommodation reception and rota-based working across five days in seven.

What you would be doing

You will ensure every shift runs smoothly while providing excellent, friendly, and professional customer service. You will use your product knowledge to make sure all food, and beverages are prepared, presented, and served to Imperial standards, while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

A key part of your role will be to supervise staff, support their training and development, and motivate the team to deliver consistently high standards. You will also manage stock levels and ordering, minimise waste, monitor performance, support events, and assist the Venue and Hospitality Manager with increasing customer footfall and revenue.

You will be responsible for ensuring all operations comply with food hygiene, fire safety, health and safety, and Imperial policies. You will work flexibly during busy periods, weekends, and across different sites when required, while promoting a positive working environment and identifying ways to improve the customer experience.

What we are looking for

  • Hold a Personal Licence
  • An understanding of the importance of health and safety at work and associated regulations/legislative requirements
  • Experience of working in a hospitality environment
  • General knowledge of the Higher Education environment
  • Enthusiasm, understanding of customer care and service, and the ability to work with a variety of personalities at all levels
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritise and making rapid on-the-spot decisions ensuring excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, (both verbal and written) as well as a good telephone manner
  • A flexible approach to working a 5/7 day per week arrangement, including evenings and weekends, and able to work at any location/catering outlet, as reasonably requested
  • Some practical knowledge and experience in a relevant operational discipline
  • Practical knowledge gained through relevant work experience in a busy operational environment or a formal qualification(s) equivalent to Level 2 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework g. GCSE, NVQ2, or City and Guilds (with some relevant work experience)
