We are pleased to invite applications for Bank Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join our newly redesigned Children and Young People's Mental Health Inpatient Unit, reopening in Autumn 2026.

Following extensive co-design with young people, families and staff, and significant investment in our workforce and therapeutic approach, this is an exciting opportunity to work in a modern, recovery-focused inpatient service delivering high-quality, purposeful care to young people with acute mental health needs.

Our refreshed CAMHS inpatient service is built around:

• Purposeful admissions with early review points
• Structured therapeutic care delivered across 7 days
• Strong integration with crisis and community services, including COAST (Crisis Outreach Acute Support Team)
• Trauma-informed and autism-aware practice
• A focus on least restrictive practice and positive experience and outcomes
• Strong MDT working, safe staffing and visible clinical leadership

You will work as part of a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team alongside nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, family therapists and social workers.

Main duties of the job

Support young people in their day-to-day care, wellbeing and recovery

Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people

Undertake observations, record and report changes in mental or physical health

Support the delivery of individual and group therapeutic activities

Assist with personal care when required, maintaining dignity and privacy

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support care plans

Maintain clear, accurate and timely electronic and written clinical records

Escort young people on leave and community activities, as appropriate

Promote recovery, independence and emotional wellbeing

Support least restrictive practice, de-escalation and safety interventions

Maintain a safe, clean and therapeutic care environment

Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, equality and diversity standards at all times

Participate in supervision, appraisal, training and service development
