Qualifications / training

Essential criteria

• Registered Children's Nurse/Registered Learning Disability Nurse
• Evidence of continuous professional development.

Desirable criteria

• A Specialist Public Health or Community Nursing Qualification would be desirable but not essential

Experience

Essential criteria

• Evidence of multi-disciplinary working.
• Experience of working with children with complex health and social needs.

Desirable criteria

• Post registration community experience.

Skills/knowledge

Essential criteria

• Demonstrate ability to manage caseload/workload and associated resources.
• Ability to delegate work appropriately.
• Evidence of assessment skills and ability to manage a range of care plans.
• Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current legislative changes effecting the NHS and Social Services particularly those affecting primary care.
• Ability to teach relatives, clients and staff across relevant areas of self-care and appropriate nursing practice.
• Ability to demonstrate written skills that area relevant, accurate and concise.
• Awareness of the needs of ethnic minority clients/carers.
• Ability to work in a supervisory capacity when required.
• Ability to supervise, support and motivate junior staff
• Ability to demonstare sound knowledge and application of up to date clinical trends and practices including evidence based ones relevant to needs of school population
• Ability to demonstrate individual responsibility in respect of Health & Safety
• Awareness of the needs of ethnic minority clinets/carers
• Ability to demonstrate verbal skills
• Demonstrate knowledge of child protection issues and policies
