Detailed job description and main responsibilities• To report any changes in the condition and/or circumstances of students to the college nurse.
• To assist the college nurse to undertake health promotion activities with individuals or Groups including parent's/carers.
• Participate in audits as required.
• Observes own personal duty of care to equipment and resources.
• To take reasonable care for health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work and to co-operate with Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in adhering to the Statutory and Unit Safety Regulations.
• To comply with the following:
a) Trust Policies and Procedures
b) Health and Safety Regulations and Fire Regulations
• Undertake other duties commensurate with this grade of post in agreement with the relevant line manager.
• To minimize the Trust's environmental impact wherever possible, including recycling, switching off lights, computers, monitors and equipment when not in use. Helping to reduce paper waste by minimizing printing/copying and reducing water usage, reporting faults and heating/cooling concerns promptly and minimizing travel. Where the role includes the ordering and use of supplies or equipment the post holder will consider the environmental impact of purchases.
Person specificationQualifications Essential criteria - Good standard of GCSE passes including English at C or above
- NVQ in Care /social care Level 3 or equivalent.
- Evidence of continued learning and development.
Experience Essential criteria - Previous Experience of working with young people with complex health and learning disability.
Desirable criteria - Previous Experience of dealing with members of the public.
- Previous experience of using computers.
- Previous clerical experience.
Skills & Knowledge Essential criteria - Demonstrate willingness to undertake a range of duties and to learn new tasks including clinical procedures where relevant.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of carrying out work within another agency's environment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Disability.
- Ability to recognise the importance of feedback to qualified nurses.
- Demonstrate understanding of confidentiality and consequences of breaking confidentiality
- Awareness of Adult Safeguarding issues.
Desirable criteria - Demonstrate understanding of the scope of the role.
- Able to generate written communication.
Personal Qualities Essential criteria - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to team working and interagency working.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to relate to disabled young people.
