About the Role

Horbury Academy are seeking to appoint a proactive and highly organised Attendance Officer to join our Academy team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people by promoting excellent attendance and punctuality.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils and families, helping to remove barriers to attendance and ensuring that every pupil has the best opportunity to achieve their full potential. Working closely with Academy staff, parents/carers and the Education Welfare Officer, you will help create a culture where attendance matters and every day counts.

As Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the Academy and help identify and address barriers to attendance. You will monitor and analyse attendance patterns, investigate persistent absence, and coordinate interventions and strategies that improve attendance outcomes. The role includes maintaining accurate attendance records, producing reports for leaders, undertaking or supporting home visits where appropriate, and working collaboratively with external agencies and the local authority.

The working pattern for the role is Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.00pm, and Friday 8.00am to 3.30pm.

About You

The successful candidate will...
  • Understand attendance procedures, safeguarding and child protection requirements
  • Possess strong administrative, organisational and ICT skills
  • Have experience working with vulnerable or disengaged young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Be able to work independently whilst also contributing effectively within a wider team.
