Job summary

As an Associate Lecturer in one ofthe largest providers of nursing education in the UK, you will be working witha vibrant community of academics, practitioners and researchers with acommitment to providing high-quality, research-informed teaching, to ensureactive learning.

You will join a team of academicpractitioners, innovating, teaching and supporting student nurses across theundergraduate and postgraduate curricula. You will also support a range ofpost-registration teaching to registrants accessing our CPD portfolio,alongside opportunities to be involved in research and project work. You willbe involved with supporting students, linking with our practice partners, andengaging with the research agenda.

Main duties of the job

You will need:

The ability todesign and deliver transformative and innovative learning experiences.

Knowledgeand understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to MentalHealth Nursing and the health and social care agenda.

Experienceof teaching, training or supervising undergraduate and postgraduate nurses in apractice or academic environment.

CurrentNMC registration as a Mental Health Nurse.

Evidenceof ongoing professional development.

As an Associate Lecturer, you will be expected to deliver engaging,evidence-based teaching that supports student learning and development,contributing to both face-to-face and online delivery where required.

You will participate in module delivery and assessment, ensuring contentremains current, research-informed, and aligned with public health prioritiesand industry expectations.

£39,906 to £44,746 per annum pro rata (depending on experience)

Role purpose

To be responsible for the teaching delivery of specifically identified subjects and topics relating to a defined area of work and associated assessment and administration. To contribute positively to the student experience.

Academic Lecturer generic responsibilities Grade 7

Teaching and Learning

Design and deliver, high quality and challenging learning experiences that equip students with the skills and knowledge required by employers.

Teach specifically identified subjects and topics related to a defined area of work.

Provide effective and efficient teaching to approved courses through lecture, seminar or tutorial modes of delivery.

Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to students by setting and marking coursework, assignments and examinations.

Contribute to the development of resource material.

Ensure that appropriate learning materials are prepared in advance of delivery and assignments are undertaken by students in a timely manner

Keep up-to-date with knowledge of your subject area.

Student Support

Develop a sense of purpose and harmonious working within assigned student groups.

Provide appropriate academic, technical and pastoral care by supporting the work of individual students and referring them where appropriate, to relevant support staff.

Act, when required, as tutor to a group of students, providing effective academic, technical and pastoral care.

Team Work and Communication

Work with colleagues in developing the provision within the faculty.

Work within a team to promote the development of curriculum practices of benefit to students and the University

Participate in appropriate quality assurance procedures of the faculty.

Make a positive contribution to the overall development of the department and faculty

Ensure the implementation of all University policies including those relevant to teaching, health and safety and quality assurance.

Demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.

Undertake administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters as required.

Attend faculty meetings as required.
