The Opportunity

Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic and practically skilled Art / 3D Technician to join our Digital & Creative Industries department.

You will provide specialist technical support across our Art and Design provision, helping to maintain safe, high-quality facilities within the 3D workshop, printmaking workshops and general studios.

Working closely with teaching staff and students, you will play a key role in supporting outstanding teaching and learning through the effective management of specialist resources, equipment and learning environments.

The successful candidate will operate and maintain machinery within the 3D workshop, undertake risk assessments, monitor COSHH registers, and ensure facilities and equipment remain safe, well maintained and fit for purpose.

You will also play a key role in supporting students and staff, promoting safe working practices and maintaining accurate records of equipment and resources.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in a workshop or creative environment who is passionate about supporting learners and contributing to an innovative educational setting

About You

We are looking for an organised, proactive and enthusiastic individual with relevant experience in a 3D workshop or creative arts environment.

You will have strong communication and organisational skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining safe and productive working environments.

Experience of operating workshop equipment, managing stock and resources, and supporting learners in an educational setting would be highly advantageous.

Required

• Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant subject
• GCSE Maths and English (Level 2 or equivalent)
• At least one year's relevant work experience
• Good working knowledge of a 3D workshop environment and the maintenance and operation of related machinery
• Experience of writing risk assessments and updating COSHH registers
• Good IT skills including Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint
• Understanding of compliance procedures
• Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective time management skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Experience preparing and setting up exhibitions for artwork in a variety of mediums
