Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To perform at specialist enhanced practitioner level, facilitating early assessment, supporting diagnosis and prompt treatment of patients presenting to North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust with cardiac arrhythmias to facilitate timely discharge and ensure that management is in line with evidence based guidelines.

The main responsibilities of the role will be related to clinical expertise within Cardiac Rhythm Management with an emphasis on initiating, performing and maintaining standards of clinical excellence.

This will be achieved by self-development, motivation in addition to guiding and supporting others.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Current First Level Nursing and Midwifery Council Registration
• Post registration qualification in specialist area
• Evidence of degree level study
• Advanced Life Support
• Post Registration Qualification in Clinical Assessment Skills (or willing to work towards)
• Non-Medical Prescribing module (or willing to work towards)

Desirable criteria

• Willingness and ability to study at master's level
• Arrhythmia management module/ British Heart Rhythm Society accreditation (or willing to work towards)
• Recognised teaching certificate

Experience

Essential criteria

• Appropriate post registration experience in cardiology/ Relevant experience caring for patients with cardiac arrhythmias/ CIED in a position of responsibility as a band 6
• Advanced ECG interpretation skills
• Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area
• Commitment to clinical effectiveness and evidence-based care

Desirable criteria

• Recent experience of management and development of staff
• Participation in service development and implementation of change
• Experience within nurse led outpatient clinic environment
• Previous clinical research and audit experience
