Weeks per Annum: 52

Working pattern: Monday - Thursday 7.5 hours, Friday 7 hours

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Animal Management Lecturer to join our team and deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across our Animal Management provision. This role will involve teaching across all levels, with a primary focus on Level 1 to Level 3 Further Education programmes.

As an Animal Management Lecturer, you will play a key role in supporting learners to achieve their qualifications, develop industry-relevant skills, and progress into employment or higher-level study. You will be committed to delivering an outstanding learner experience and creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, assess, and evaluate high-quality Animal Management lessons across FE programmes.
• Support learners to achieve their full potential through engaging and inclusive teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain learning materials using a range of teaching methods and digital learning technologies.
• Monitor learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Deliver tutorial and pastoral support, including individual learning plans and learner referrals where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, technicians, and external stakeholders to enhance the learner experience.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement activities, and course promotion.
• Maintain accurate course records and utilise college systems effectively.
• Engage in continuing professional development and keep up to date with industry and awarding body requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Animal Management, Animal Science, Animal Care, or a related subject.
• A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
• Experience teaching within Animal Management or a related curriculum area.
• Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for animal education and learner success.
• The ability to engage and motivate learners from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and learner wellbeing.
• Experience teaching within a post-16 or Further Education setting is desirable.
• Industry experience and employer links within the animal sector would be advantageous.

Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction, followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET), and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. There is also the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at a later stage.
