Anaesthetic Practitioner (ODP or anaeshetic nurse)

Job summary

The Theatre Anaesthetic team are looking to recruit Band 5 ODPs or Registered Nurses with recognised anaesthetic qualification, to work within our specialised cardiothoracic suite comprising of Six theatres, Cath labs and thoracic recovery.
Main duties of the job

To help and support the patient prior to surgery, preparing a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment, and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia. During the surgical procedure the anaesthetic practitioner will also provide essential support between the surgical team and other parts of the operating theatre and hospital. The anaesthetic practitioner will also be responsible for the preparation and safe transfer of the patient to the Critical Care or Recovery area.

• Professional adult nursing qualification (Registered Nurse or OperatingDepartment Practitioner) to degree level or equivalent OR in-depth diploma plus
• significant or equivalent experience in similar environment.
• Relevant clinical knowledge in a similar environment acquired through training.
• Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council.

Experience

Essential

• Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting.
• Ability to mentor and educate junior staff.
• An understanding of safeguarding policy and procedures including Patient SafetyIncident Response Framework (PSIRF), particularly those related to vulnerable
• patients.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be able to problemsolve, use own initiative and plan, organise and prioritise own and others'
• workload.
• Evidence of continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in further training and education.
• Competent IT skills.
