Adult Social Worker - Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) within Adult Mental Health in Wiltshire, earning £38.00 per hour. This 3-month locum opportunity offers 37 hours per week and the potential for longer-term opportunities. Based at Fountain Way Hospital in Salisbury, you will work 4 days with the Mental Health Team and 1 day on the AMHP Hub rota, supporting adults with complex mental health needs while working within a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary environment.

What you will do

• Mental Health Assessments: Undertake urgent assessments for adults with suspected social care and mental health needs.
• AMHP Duties: Participate in the AMHP Hub rota, carrying out statutory duties under the Mental Health Act.
• Safeguarding: Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring adults are protected from harm.
• Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate closely with AWP and Adult Social Care teams across Wiltshire.
• Duty Work: Manage referrals, respond to urgent situations, and undertake duty responsibilities.
• Supervision: Provide guidance and support to students and unqualified staff where appropriate.
• Legislation: Apply expert knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding legislation.
• Community Engagement: Balance office, home, and community-based work to deliver effective and person-centred support.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Social Work Qualification: Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registration: Current Social Work England registration.
• AMHP Status: Approved Mental Health Professional qualification is essential.
• Experience: Previous experience within adult mental health services and statutory social work settings.
• Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding frameworks.
• Communication Skills: Excellent assessment, decision-making, and partnership-working abilities.
• Community Practice: Ability to work effectively across office, home, and community environments.
