Person specificationEducation/Qualification Essential criteria - Educated to GCSE Level (or equivalent) in English Language
Desirable criteria - NVQ in Business/Administration or equivalent knowledge and experience
Experience Essential criteria - Previous experience of working as a secretary or administrator in a busy office environment
- Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of databases
- Knowledge and experience of using/implanting administration procedures and processes
- Good written and oral communication skills to converse and correspond with a range of service users and partners regarding complex and sensitive issues via face to face interactions, telephone or documentation
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Able to be accurate, flexible and work under pressure
- Able to communicate when barriers to understanding exist
Desirable criteria - Previous experience of working in healthcare environment
Skills & Knowledge Essential criteria - Able to use a range of office equipment
- Able to take accurate phone messages and convey to appropriate person or deal with it as necessary
- Able to work as part of a team and use own initiative
- Able to multitask accurately and efficiently
- Good communication skills - able to apply empathy in a sincere but professional manner
- Able to interpret and explain issues and information to make it understandable for the service and its users
- Able to record complex information via electronic processes
- Able to learn specific internal IT programmes e.g SystmOne and be able to competently use on a daily basis
Desirable criteria - Advanced IT skills and knowledge of computer office software
- Awareness of the need for confidentiality

Desirable criteria - Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
