Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available to work within the Democratic Services Admin Team in the Governance and Democratic Services Department. The position is for 1 FTE (37 hours) per week.

About you

We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, flexible, hardworking, politically aware, and works well as part of a team.

As part of the team, you will be required to support the decision-making processes of the Council. Working closely with elected Members and senior officers, you will provide administrative support to the Democratic Services Team, including the administration of School Appeals, Member Enquiries and processing Member allowances claim forms.

As an organisation we continue to develop ways in which we can assist and support the elected members in getting responses to their ward-based, service-related enquiries via the Members' Enquiries Service. You will assist in supporting the delivery of this service by logging and getting responses to enquiries as well as supporting the business functions of the service, including the administration of the school appeals process.

You will deliver and co-ordinate the inputting and maintenance of the Council's official records and member records to ensure compliance with current practice and protocols.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Experience in an administrative role in public services including financial experience;
  • A high degree of interpersonal skills;
  • The ability to converse at ease with our internal and external customers;
  • A flexible approach to work;
  • Knowledge and ability to organise meetings within the political arena.
