Additional Learning Support Assistant

Job description

Bolton College is looking for an experienced and dedicated Additional Learning Support Assistant to join our team.

You will need to have:

• GCSE English and Maths qualifications or equivalent.
• Evidence of job-related training.
• Experience of supporting learners with disabilities, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental well-being issues with their further education studies.
• Understanding of the needs of learners with disabilities, learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental well-being issues and strategies for differentiating support.
• Knowledge of IT and office suites.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

• Supporting students' needs to ensure equitable access to all College programmes by all students, whilst maintaining high expectations.
• Supporting students' organisational skills
• Focusing the students on the instructions and meaning of the activity and ensuring the students understand the tasks in hand.
• Promoting confidence, motivating and providing guidance and encouragement in whatever activities the students are undertaking.
• Encouraging the students to integrate into the learning group.
• Ensuring students are up to date with their work and liaising with the tutors to identify gaps and assist in getting the students to meet targets
• Collaborating with internal professionals to contribute to smooth progressions and transitions.
• Promoting preparation for life

As an individual you will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, and will therefore be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
