Lunchtime Supervisor (Additional Needs Support)

To start as soon as possible

Fixed Term for Autumn Term 2026 in the first instance

Norristhorpe Junior and Infant School is seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic Lunchtime Supervisor to provide dedicated support for a child with additional needs during the lunchtime period.

This is a rewarding role where you will help to ensure the child has a positive, safe and enjoyable lunchtime experience. You will support them in managing their behaviour, developing positive relationships with others and engaging successfully in play and social activities, while supporting the practices and procedures of the school under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and Wellbeing.

The hours of work are 12pm to 1pm, term time only.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide close supervision and support for a child with additional needs during lunchtime.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help the child follow school expectations and routines.
  • Support the child in developing friendships and social interaction skills.
  • Facilitate and encourage participation in playground games and activities.
  • Help the child to manage transitions between lunchtime activities.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the Inclusion Team to ensure consistent support strategies are in place.
  • Promote the child's independence, confidence and wellbeing.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of the child at all times.
  • Oversee any medical needs for the child over the lunchtime period.
