Join Our Finance Team!

Fixed-Term position with a salary range of £28,142 to £31,022 per annum (subject to pay award)

Pembrokeshire County Council is recruiting a motivated individual to join our dynamic Finance team as an Accounting Technician.

This position is ideal for an ambitious individual wanting to grow a meaningful career in public sector finance. You'll contribute to managing a budget of over £326 million while supporting essential services across the authority.

You'll work collaboratively in a hybrid environment that values flexibility, development, and progression.

As the Accounting Technician you will assist Finance Managers, Principal Accountants and Senior Accountants in providing effective financial services to the groups various clients.

Reporting to the Principal Accountant, your core duties will include:
  • Participate in the budget preparation and final accounts exercises as required by senior staff.
  • Correcting miscoded data and entering budgets on the financial management system
  • Analysis of cost data required by senior staff & timely clearance of suspense account items
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of grant claim forms.
  • Participate in the monitoring of expenditure against budgets, producing various reports as required and acting as contact point for day to day queries from clients
    • Provide general administrative support to the Finance team, including monitoring and responding to the team inbox, dealing with routine queries, maintaining records and supporting senior staff.
    • Operate as an active member of the finance team being managed and supported by the relevant line manager
