Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education (5 GCSEs A-C grade or equivalent, including English and Maths)
  • Must be willing to undertake any internal and external training
  • Must be able to demonstrate ongoing personal development


Desirable criteria
  • Have NVQ level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners
  • Successfully reaccredited as a AAA Screening Technician


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Must understand hospital environment and patient care & confidentiality
  • Evidence of understanding medical terminology
  • Previous use and understanding of computer systems
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft office software
  • Working in a team
  • Strong evidence of communicating sensitive information


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in community setting
  • NHS experience
  • Performing ultrasound


Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with participants and external contacts.
  • Good clear spoken and written English
  • Politeness and patience
  • Ability to work within a team and to effectively liaise with people at all levels, including where there are barriers to understanding


Analytical and Judgement Skills

  • Ability to make unsupervised judgements on patient enquiries and problems.
  • Awareness of when to request advice from senior staff
  • Ability to work on own initiative


Planning and Organisation Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Flexible & independent approach to work
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Good work ethic


Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to undertake ultrasound scanning which may be repetitive
  • Good hand eye co-ordination
  • Ability to transport equipment from vehicles to various screening locations around the county
  • Ability to move / lift ultrasound machines
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Ability to stand and be mobile for extended periods of time


Other requirements specific to the role (eg be able to drive or work shifts)

Essential criteria
  • Must be able to work flexibly - some early evenings and Saturdays required
  • Ability to concentrate and multi-task
  • Ability to adapt to different working environments
  • Ability to take frequent interruptions
  • Ability and willingness to travel between units and centres
  • Ability and willingness to transport screening equipment and other items between units and centres
  • Ability to undertake role related training and achieve required standard
  • Willingness to attend meetings and training events throughout the UK
  • Must be able to drive
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence; insurance to include business use as extensive travel is required around the county
  • Use of own vehicle for work purposes
  • DBS check satisfactory to the Trust
