About the Role

The Explosive Search Dog Support Unit is looking to recruit experienced Explosive Search Dog Handlers.

As an Explosive Search Dog Handler, you and your dog will provide specialist search capability across London and further afield in support of counter-terrorism and protective security operations. Deployments can take place across a wide range of environments including airports, critical infrastructure sites, public events, transport hubs and the River Thames.

Working alongside Police Search Advisers (PolSA), Licensed Search Officers (LSO), Protective Security Operations teams, SO15 and EOD colleagues, handlers play a key role in protecting the public and supporting operational policing.

This is a unique opportunity to use your skill set at some of the most unique venues and events in the UK. Working as part of the largest Explosive Search Dog Team in the country, managing a high demand for your specialist skills with opportunity for personal development.
The Role Includes
  • Supporting Aviation Policing at Heathrow.
  • Conducting pre-planned counter-terrorism and protective security searches.
  • Supporting MPS and national counter-terrorism operations.
  • Working alongside SO15, EOD and MO19 during operational deployments.
  • Providing specialist support to local policing and New Met for London priorities.
  • Community engagement and public-facing events.
