James is a talented Engineer with a rich wealth of experience in his industry. He signed up for an apprenticeship, focusing on air conditioning and refrigeration engineering, to further enhance his career and employability.

While working at Mitie, James studies at Bradford College where this specialist industry is reflected as part of the curriculum.

James said :

“I think people in my age group, who might’ve been at work for a while and are wondering what their next step is, can be a bit apprehensive about going back to college; just go for it. It’s great.”

Dave joined Mitie as a Detainee Custody Officer in 2020. After completing a Custody and Detention Officer Level 3 Apprenticeship in 2022, he was promoted to the role of Detainee Custody Officer Manager.

Dave said:

“The apprenticeship compounds the on-the-job learning by putting it on paper and demonstrating your understanding. It helped me to understand my role better as a Detainee Custody Officer and gave me the confidence to apply for promotion.

There's a lot to gain from completing an apprenticeship. It'll help you enhance your skills and knowledge and at the end, you'll have some new qualifications to further your career. There’s no doubt it assisted me in my promotion to management.”

Luke is one of the thousands of dedicated Mitie apprentices being inspired and enabled to achieve their potential.

While studying at university, Luke pursues a Project Management apprenticeship at Mitie, which allows him to gain work experience and develop his career.
