As part of the Staff Volunteering and Outreach Scheme each member of staff can apply to volunteer for up to 5 days per academic year subject to line manager’s approval. This can be in numerous capacities both individual or as a member of a team. It can allow staff to use work based skills for the advantage of community organisations or gain new skills in completely different areas.
As part of the scheme one-off team challenges are organised in which anyone can participate. Past team challenges include gardening, working at the Dog’s Trust, and preparing information sheets for charity. This gives staff a chance to network across the university meet different departments and make new contacts. All upcoming team challenges are advertised on the staff volunteering website.
