At the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB), the inclusive culture is not just a statement, but a vibrant reality. The Group LGBT+ consists of dedicated employees and allies who are working tirelessly to promote Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) around LGBT+ inclusion, both within the organisation and beyond.

Internally, RSSB has taken significant steps to foster an environment of acceptance and support. They have established a platform where employees can watch and share industry EDI webinars and lunchtime sessions. This not only educates individuals but also encourages open dialogue and discussion on EDI issues. In a virtual teams area called the 'coffee shop,' employees can come together to discuss challenges and share successes, creating a space that promotes change within the organisation.
One aspect that RSSB recognises is the importance of pronoun awareness and respectful communication, providing guidance on how to inform others of preferred pronouns. This ensures that everyone feels seen and respected.
Moreover, RSSB goes above and beyond by providing funding for a safe space where LGBT+ employees and allies can meet outside of work. This initiative allows individuals to connect, share experiences, and build a strong support network.
To celebrate Pride Month and raise awareness, RSSB issues internal communications dedicated to the LGBT+ community. This ensures that the organisation actively recognises and celebrates the diversity within its workforce.
In a move that exemplifies the organisation's commitment to inclusivity, RSSB has introduced rainbow lanyards for staff who wish to show their membership or allyship with the LGBT+ community. This small but powerful gesture allows individuals to proudly express their support and fosters a sense of belonging for all.
Wonderful to see our colleagues and friends on Saturday, celebrating diversity together at Pride 2025 in London. A fantastic parade, good music, decent weather (the rain saved itself for Sunday) and most importantly: hashtag#TeamRSSB
