Neuro Inclusivity Network at Ministry of Defence – Navy Command

The RN is made up of many different capabilities; they all have their unique strengths and come together to make us the fighting force we are.

We need our workforce to mirror this diversity; we need people who think in different ways, who challenge the normal ways of doing business and to drive forward innovation. We need to support our neurodiverse workforce to enable them to excel. This may be achieved through increasing awareness of neurodiversity and breaking down the stigma, through making adjustments in the workplace, or giving people the tools they need to achieve their goals. Small adjustments can have a significant impact, not only on the individual, but also on the whole team.

Changing Perceptions of Neurodiversity within the Whole Force Royal Navy

The MOD Neuro Inclusivity Network run events including talks from our people sharing how they use their neurodivergent strengths to achieve goals and the importance of creating inclusive environments enabling diverse teams to succeed. We want all our people to be champions for a neurodiverse organisation.

The Defence Dyslexia Network runs events and promotes diverse ways of thinking across MOD. The network provides a supportive space to discuss dyslexia, encourages open conversations, helps people with dyslexia feel able to be themselves, and supports individuals to recognise and build on their strengths.
