Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentDespite an increase in the number of women in business over the past 40 years, there is still a reluctance for women to discuss menopause, with many experiencing feelings of embarrassment, stigma, and fear of discrimination.
For World Menopause Day back in 2019, we launched our first Women’s Health Guide to encourage more open conversations about health in the workplace. The guide includes information for colleagues who may need support as well as Managers, and our wider colleague population to help them understand how they may be able to help.
But we know there’s more we need to do. That is why we have signed the ‘Menopause Workplace Pledge’ with the health charity Wellbeing of Women, as we commit to helping more women at work who are going through menopause.
As part of our commitment, we have announced the introduction of a brand-new uniform that includes more breathable fabric which will provide more comfort for our store colleagues dealing with hot flushes. As well as this, our Customer Engagement Centre in Dundee is currently trialing a dedicated menopause support service and events with colleagues. Understanding that education is key we have also developed specific training to better equip our Managers in supporting women’s health and the changes they go through; this information will be used to guide the creation of a new menopause policy.
Natasha Adams, CEO Tesco Ireland has said: “There is always more we can do to help empower women and be there for colleagues, and I am so pleased to be working with Wellbeing of Women on such an important campaign, as we pledge to talk openly, positively and respectfully about the menopause. The conversation on menopause is just opening up, and together, we can make a positive change for women in the workplace.”
