Disability network at NATS

Our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is at the core of our values. Fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered is not only the right thing to do, it’s crucial for our collective success. The Disability Network plays a vital role in this mission by advocating for and supporting our colleagues with disabilities and long-term health conditions, ensuring that they have the resources, accommodations, and opportunities they need to thrive. 

The Disability Network provides a forum for employees interested in equality and inclusion and a means of peer support for those affected by impairments and disabilities. It ensures everyone has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents in the workplace. 

In July 2024 we celebrated Disability Pride Month across the business through panels and open discussions. The month was a great time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disabilities, challenge stereotypes, and promote visibility and understanding. It was also an opportunity to reflect on how we can continue to improve our practices and policies to better support each other. We focused not only on physical disabilities but also on hidden and mental health conditions, fostering a safe environment where individuals can feel comfortable disclosing their disability or long-term health condition, if they chose to do so, and requesting any accommodations they need. 

We have made significant strides in recent years, from all our hard work on reasonable adjustments, to enhancing our recruitment processes to be more inclusive, and providing additional training on disability awareness and accommodations. However, there is always more work to be done. We are fully committed to driving these initiatives forward, ensuring we continue to progress and hold ourselves accountable.
