CAN - Capability Action Network at BEIS

CAN brings people together to inspire a more open and supportive workplace.

The purpose:

• To champion the needs of people with disabilities and long term health conditions
• To increase the capability of the department through awareness of disability needs, education and support
• To be the department’s critical friend on the topics of disability and inclusion

What they do

• Bring people together to demonstrate how talking openly and confidently about how our bodies and minds work benefits everyone
• Create opportunities for people to learn about how a deeper understanding of difference makes it easier for everyone to reach their full potential
• Provide challenge and support to the department on disability
• Provide a confidential advice and signposting service to help join up department support and specialist groups

The interest groups CAN supports are Arthritis; Asperger Syndrome; Carers; Diabetes, Food Issues & Allergies; Dyslexia and Dyspraxia; Epilepsy and Migraine; Hearing Impairment; Stammering; Visual Impairment; Wellbeing & Mental Health.
