The Voice is the official media partner for this year’s Africa On The Square festival and it would like to invite all its readers to join them in Trafalgar Square this Saturday (Oct 15) as they celebrate all the continent has to offer.
The annual event, organised by London mayor Sadiq Khan, will feature African arts and culture with a range of activities highlighting the diverse communities from across the continent and their presence in the UK.
We will also be giving away free copies of our annual Africa Celebrates magazine.
Last year, Africa on the Square attracted 28,000 visitors and it’s anticipated the numbers will be even higher this year.
The free event will be compered by Esther Alade and Usifu Jalloh, also known as the Cowfoot Prince, and will include live music from Nigeria’s Bukky Leo & Black Egypt, talented MOBO Unsung finalists, amongst other spectacular acts.
Other highlights include an exclusive fashion show directed by Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) featuring designers from the contemporary African fashion scene.
The one-day event is complete with an African market, food stalls, fashion show and an array of activities to keep the young ones entertained and excited.
Africa on the Square is organised by the Mayor of London for Black History Month 2016, so come along and catch up with the people behind the nations favourite black weekly newspaper. We hope to see you there!
