Our second annual Diversity & Inclusion Week running from 21st-25th November, itis an annual week of activities and events that highlight the importance of inclusion in the workplace across the UK. It is an opportunity for Zurich employees to get connected and engage with people who are passionate about inclusion in the workplace and beyond.
This year’s Diversity and Inclusion theme is Intersectionality, recognising that people have overlapping social categorisations such as gender, sexual orientation, race, age and perspectives. These interact on simultaneous levels and can create overlapping discrimination or disadvantage.
We are hosting events throughout the week at various locations and online these have been arranged by representatives from our four diversity and inclusion networks, Cultural Awareness Network (CAN), Women’s Innovation Network (WIN), Gay, Lesbian and Everyone Else (GLEE) and Disability Inclusion Group (DIG), with topics and speakers chosen to highlight the intersectionality theme.
Events range from a resilience for busy professionals webinar run with My Family Care, guest speaker John Flanner MBE talking about Fun, Fear and Faith and Transitioning in the Workplace with firefighter Katie Cornhill. Throughout the week there will be cultural food swaps, a diversity picture quiz and even a opportunity to take part in a Yam Jam on Yammer giving Zurich staff the opportunity to #AskAStupid question creating an open an honest space for D&I discussion and learning.
We hope that the week will emphasise Zurich’s continued commitment to creating a Diverse and Inclusive workplace.
