A Year of EDI Wins at Hillarys

Diversity and Inclusion

In 2023, our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace and culture was unwavering, marked by several significant strides within our journey through Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).

Our launch of the EDI page on the Interior was a pivotal moment. It became a central hub for resources, providing clarity, driving awareness and fostering a culture of inclusivity and understanding among us all, strengthened by our manager pledges from around the business.

The formation of our EDI Ambassadors was a game-changer. These passionate individuals, each with different areas of expertise in EDI, lead in promoting inclusivity, amplifying diverse voices, and championing a more equitable workplace for everyone.

Recognising and incorporating surrogacy into our family friendly policies marked a significant step towards embracing diverse family structures within our company. It showcased our commitment to supporting all employees in their unique life journeys.

This year, we held crucial training sessions focusing on special learning differences and autism. These sessions were pivotal in enhancing awareness and equipping our people managers with insights and tools to support individuals with diverse learning needs.

During Black History Month, we came together to celebrate the richness of history and culture within the Black community. It was an opportunity for learning and appreciation, bringing us closer through shared experiences, understanding the struggles and promoting the talents of Black individuals throughout history and modern day. 

Finally, earning recognition as a Disability Confident Employer affirmed our dedication to creating an accessible and supportive workplace environment. It's a recognition of our ongoing efforts to ensure that every individual, regardless of ability, has equal opportunities.

 

Complementing all of this, we continued to run our monthly educational articles. Shared throughout the year these pieces were informative and thought-provoking, with the aim of expanding our knowledge and understanding of EDI topics. Additionally, the personal articles authored by our colleagues provided valuable insights into different group’s perspectives.

As we close this year let's carry forward the spirit of progress. These achievements serve as a foundation for our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered. Here's to continued growth and success in the journey ahead!
