Women's Network Event at Royal Mail

Royal Mail's female managers and frontline colleagues got together in Cheshire and Merseyside for the Women's Network Event.

The Cheshire, Merseyside and Staffordshire Women’s Network is made up of female managers,deputy managers and frontline colleagues who have previously attended Springboard. The group shares best practice, and meets every few months to network and obtain some development as a group of females working for Royal Mail.

Their recent meeting included a business update from Sue Whalley, Chief Operations Officer, who also talked about her commitment to the Diversity agenda. She shared her experiences as a female manager, providing some background on her career and the challenges she has faced. Giving advice to the group, Sue talked about the importance of getting to know your people, having a mentor and someone to sponsor your career, and the need for women to have the confidence to do anything they put their mind to.

The agenda also included an interactive session on health, a working session on how to bring more females into Royal Mail with the group putting forward suggestions on how to increase the Diversity of the workforce in Royal Mail, the outputs of this will be fed into a national working group.
