March is Women’s History Month, and it presents an ideal opportunity to showcase the extraordinary work being delivered by women across Defence.
From the trailblazing women in Defence Nuclear Organisation, to the first Service Police Complaints Commissioner, to the incredible female scientists.
Chief of Defence People, Vice Admiral Phil Hally, said:
“This is an opportunity for us all to reflect upon the many achievements of women in Defence and to celebrate those women who are making history today. I am consistently humbled by the incredible talent and experience which women bring to the Defence sector, from providing support to Ukraine, to leading change in AI, to gathering intelligence for operations around the world, to setting new world records for human endurance”.
Networks
There are a number of fantastic networks across Defence that support our women like the Defence Women's Network.
The Defence Women’s Network (DWN)
The Defence Women’s Network was formed in 2020 to break down the barriers of gender inequality and discrimination, by challenging inappropriate behaviour in the workplace. Now as a community with over 6,000 members, it continues to celebrate women’s achievements and aid each other in becoming respected leaders of our organisations - whilst positively and proactively contributing to a diverse workforce.
