Women at HS2; Hala - Lead Architect
Category: Gender (Equality & Identity)
I work with the teams that are designing the two new HS2 stations that will be in Birmingham and Solihull. I am a lead architect – I get a say in what the new stations will look like and also how we will build them, so it’s a very important job.
I was born in the Middle East and have mixed heritage, but I have lived in Birmingham for many years – it is certainly colder here than the country I was born in, but there is lots of lovely countryside around us that I feel very lucky to live near. Last year, I ran the Great North Run half marathon. It was my first time running a long distance but it was an amazing experience. I didn’t run as fast as our trains will go though! When they’re ready, HS2 trains will travel at up to 200mph.
