What ITV Pride means to me...

Meet Georgina, Commercial Marketing Manager and new Co-chair of ITV Pride.

What’s ITV Pride?

Established in 2012, ITV Pride is our company-wide network group that has over 120 Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and straight ally members. We get together once a month to discuss all things LGBT, such as the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (the organisation that campaigns for LGBT equality), social events, editorial and storylines in our shows, plus other activities like our Book Club. Our meetings rotate around the ITV sites in London, Manchester, Leeds and Cardiff often having special guests and speakers such as Stephanie Hirst one of the UK’s leading transgender advocators, - and we dial or Google Hangout people in.

What’s ITV Pride network been working on?

ITV pride recently collaborated with Pride in London for the annual parade through the city centre celebrating LGBT diversity, which took place on Saturday 25th June. The brilliant ITV Events team established a great brand experience for this parade and I was really pleased with the results. This sat perfectly alongside other LGBT awareness raising initiatives that we planned across ITV, including a special ITV Pride Lunch & Learn where some special guests will be telling their own Pride story.

What’s InterMediaUK and how does it differ from ITV Pride?

InterMediaUK is the organisation that brings together ITV, Sky, BBC, Discovery, Viacom, Channel 4 and UKTV. Matt Scarff, Director of ITV Creative & Events, and Chair of ITV Pride, Chairs this group and a few of us (including me) meet once a month to discuss best practice for LGBT people across our industry. Last month we were invited to Parliament by Baroness King of Bow who explained how important Project Diamond will be for our industry. We’ll participate in the London Pride parade under the InterMediaUK banner.

What do you love most about being involved in the ITV Pride network?

My favourite thing is widening my network and mixing with LGBT and straight allies from across the business. I feel very proud to work at a company that has a Pride group.
