Volunteering at T-Systems in the UK

On Friday 19th May, a group of employees from T-Systems in the UK spent a day away from the office volunteering for The Parks Trust in Milton Keynes.

The team spent the day at Waterhall Park, where they were clearing an invasive species of plant, the Himalayan Balsam in order to encourage more native plants and wildlife to thrive in the area. They worked hard throughout the day, through sunshine and rain, in order to ensure that the local community can continue to enjoy the park and the nature and wildlife that thrive there.

This is just one of the ways that T-Systems in the UK encourages its employees to give something back to the community as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘Giving Something Back’. T-Systems encourages every employee to take one paid day off a year in order to volunteer for a charity of their choice. Whether this be working in a local charity shop, completing a fundraising charity event or supporting a community project, these are all examples of T-Systems employees charitable work.

This initiative allows employees to give back to their local community, in a way that they can see will add real value. T-Systems works with a number of charities in Milton Keynes, including:

• The Parks Trust
• Keech Hospice Care
• Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity
• Willen Hospice
• Macmillan Cancer Support

In London, T-Systems works with Benefacto in order to match individuals interests with the charities that want their help. In other locations, T-Systems encourages its staff to work with charities of their choice in order to create positive change in the local community. They also encourage employees to work with one another and build relationships in order to make a real difference to these charities. T-Systems also regularly gets involved with national fundraising events such as Comic Relief, Sport Relief, Macmillan Coffee Morning, Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day and many more.
