Diversity and Inclusion

With new reporting requirements for ESG coming into effect, employers will need to do more than pay lip service to diversity and inclusion

RecFest 2024

VERCIDA was delighted to participate in RecFest 2024 on 11 July in Knebworth. As well as being a day for networking and socialising, our demo station attracted plenty of visitors keen to find out more about how our platform provides comprehensive ESG solutions for employers. This was a timely display with new ESG reporting rules coming into effect next year.

From 2025, large employers will be under the diversity and inclusion (D&I) spotlight. Private companies with at least 250 employees and either a turnover of more than £36 million or a balance sheet total of more than £18 million will have to provide a non-financial statement covering environmental and social governance (ESG) matters.

When VERCIDA CEO Morgan Lobb gave his talk, “Get Over Diversity, ESG is Eating Your Lunch!” at RecFest, he had a strong message for responsible business leaders. The focus on diversity and inclusion issues, such as racial equality and LGBTQ+ rights, has been in the spotlight in recent years, but there has been a backlash with “woke” becoming a negative term, rather than a positive attribute with its origins in America’s Black civil rights movement.

Morgan pointed out that a Deloitte study found that by next year, an estimated 75% of the workforce will be millennials, a group that tends to value sustainable, inclusive workplaces.

To do D&I right, Morgan says it needs to be “genuine and embedded in the company culture” and employee networks are a “valuable asset” for promoting true change in workplaces. He stressed that the concept of “cultural fit” is about authenticity and aligned values, no matter what someone’s background is.

Recfest gave VERCIDA a chance to shine a light on a serious subject, while engaging positively with friends and partners, while showcasing our work to thousands of decision-makers in a fun festival atmosphere.
