Coral Nourrice – Parallel Success Co-ordinator – London and South East
What is your role at British Athletics?
I’m the Parallel Success Co-ordinator, covering London and the South East. The purpose of my role is effective coordination of the Parallel Success programme activity, to increase the number of eligible Para pathway athletes, retained and competing in the sport. This includes monitoring of early talent identification to progress athletes up through the talent pathway.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
A time of reflection, rejoicing and celebrating black people who gave us hope and freedom. A chance for our voices to be heard, internal recognition and learning which show that we are people of importance.
What black individual do you most admire in history?
One of the people I most admire is Jesse Owens
My black athlete in the history of athletics in Britain is…
Paula Dunn
Paula Dunn was born 3 December 1964; a former sprinter who competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 x 100 metres relay. She represented Great Britain in all three events at the 1998 Olympic Games in Seoul. At 100 metres, she won a Commonwealth Games silver medal in 1986 and a bronze medal in 1994. Her personal bests of 11.15 secs in the 100 metres and 22.69 secs in the 200 metres, were the fastest times run by a British female sprinter during the 1990s.
Paula is now the Para Athlete Performance Director for British Athletics.
