Book now for training in January and March!
We want your help to address the chronic under-representation of black and minority ethnic staff in senior roles in the NHS. We want volunteers to be Equality Champions who will help with our recruitment process to ensure that interviews are fair for people from all backgrounds.
Equality Champions are BME staff members who will sit on the interview panels for posts band 6 and above.
They will be given training in how to conduct interviews, and selection processes, and will have the opportunity to participate in interviews on a regular basis.
Our Equality Champions started work on this initiative in 2018, sitting on interviews for staff at band 8a and above. This resulted in an increase of 4% in our BME staff at that level. Now we want to extend the initiative and hope to see an even bigger impact at band 6 and above.
To do this we more volunteers to come forward so that we can train them to do this important role. BME staff at any level can apply to be an Equality Champions and will be given lots of advice to equip them for the task.
The dates for the next training days are:
10am-4pm, 8 January, Room 9, First Floor, West Wing, St Pancras Hospital
10am-4pm, 3 March, Room 9, First Floor, West Wing, St Pancras Hospital
